Surveyor, down by the water and Georgian

Taken with iPhone

- An early morning walk around Cherokee Lake in Thomasville, Georgia on Sunday morning. There were a few quiet walkers at 7:00am, as well as this guy, who found an awesome perch on a skinny stump.

- In perfect choreography, "Down by the Water" by The Decemberists comes up on my iPod just as I set off around the lake.

- A couple, strolling with their dog, slows down to let me pass. The woman asks, "Are you Georgian?" I tell her I am, but just visiting that part of Georgia for the weekend. They are from upstate New York and visiting their daughter, who has just given birth. They like Thomasville well enough to be thinking of moving there. There is serious humidity this particular morning, so that's saying something. :)

I couldn't figure out a way to edit that photo taken with my phone to focus on the bird, but then thought that the water with its reflection were beautiful, too.

No - I said, Hey (pronounced around here as HAY.) I guess that was her first clue.

This woman was dying to talk - she said she, her husband and their dog keep waking up the baby, so they thought they would walk that morning. I was kind of on a time schedule to get back to the assisted living facility to have brekkie with mom, so I just spoke with them for a moment or two.

What a beautiful shot, Lynn. Looks like a fabulous place to explore.
Love the synchronicity of the music :)

Looks like a safe perch to escape the walking traffic n heat!
Music synchronicity! Great when that happens. I still don't have an ipod or iphone. Someday...
Living close to the grandkids is a definate plus- I only get to see half of mine, usually. MBs are too far away. It's not always where, but who! How true!

It's beautiful - a little marshy in places. I wore my old walking shoes because I didn't want to get my fabulous new ones that dirty! :)

My hairdresser and I were just talking about how the music on the iPod seems to shuffle the same songs over and over. I have over 400 songs on there and keep hearing the same ones. So the funny thing is - I had not heard that Down by the Water song since the last time I walked at that lake the first of June.

There IS something special about being Georgian! And the furniture from that era is classic too.

Down By The Water is a great place to be.

Speaking of water, cooling, and beating the heat... our house A/C has been broken since yesterday morning -- 106 here. So the tree house with it's window a/c unit has been a blessing!

Oh my - I can't complain about the heat after hearing that. Thank goodness for the treehouse and its AC.

Where does the perched bird end and the reflection begin?

Granny Annie -

I know - it's hard to tell. And I couldn't believe the bird sat there and posed for me like that. :)
